Light Painting as dubbed by some, is a great new photography technique whereby people take long exposures and flash lights around while doing so. There’s a bunch of examples all over the internet and a couple of guides. We didn’t read any of the guides and tried to do it ourselves the other night.

How supermarkets prepared us for online consumption

Several years ago, I was on a radio talk show. My main topic of concern was internet shopping and the high-street. While I’m a geek, and the internet is my domain, I still love to go window shopping. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve seen high streets dwindle until they become they wild west scenes, complete with tumble weeds, charity stores and coffee shops.

Sony NEX-5, is the quest for a summer camera over…

It’s that time of year when I’m looking for a new camera, I have a list of things I look for in a camera, it needs to fit in my pocket, it needs to be great image quality, it needs Auto Bracket Exposure & RAW (for HDR), it should have Face recognition, low-light photos are a must, has to come with a flash, it needs to have a full manual mode and should be reasonably priced (If money wasn’t an option I’d buy the Leica X1 at $4000 instantly).

Over the past few weeks I’ve had my eye on the superb looking Sony NEX-5. So is search over, or do I have to continue looking?

It comes to that time of year when camera manufactures like to parade their new products in front us, enticing us to release our hard earned cash in return for a box with a hole in it.

If not all, but most of my photos come from chance, so I like to have a pocketable camera with me at all times. I used to tote a much larger super zoom camera, but I would think about it before I went out for a walk. Many times I missed what I thought were photo opportunities, so last year I researched into pro-sumer pocket cameras.
