Quickly create a unique Fathers Day Card
If you’re anything like me, you only realized it was Fathers Day a couple of days ago, and you’re gonna have to work fast to make something great and get it in the mail for it to be there on time. If you’re not like me, then kudos for remembering things like that! In this tutorial, I’m gonna you show you how you can create a truly unique Fathers Day card, that I’m sure your Dad’ll love.
You’ll need a copy of Funtastic Photos, if you don’t have Funtastic Photos you can download the free trial from http://www.ohanaware.com/funtasticphotos/FuntasticPhotos.zip.
- To start with open up your copy of Funtastic Photos, go find a nice photo of your Dad, this tutorial works best with a close in portrait. I’m using the image below.
- The effect we want to create is based on an existing 1-Click Style, this’ll make it quicker and easier for us. In the 1-Click Styles list, choose the “Artistic” category and then scroll all the way to the end. We’re looking for Pencil Effect, once you’ve found it, click on it to apply it.
- Make sure that the “Advanced Options” are visible, if not click on the “Advanced Options” button to show them. If you scroll through the list, you’ll see that the “Line Art” & “Grayscale” effects are enabled. Uncheck the “Grayscale” effect.
- Underneath the “Grayscale” effect, there’s the “Auto Contrast” effect, check it to enable it. Now click and drag on the “Sepia” effect, we want to move it below the “Auto Contrast” filter. Now set the “Strength” of the Sepia effect to the far right.
- Scroll to the bottom of the effect list and enable the “Vignette” effect, change the color from black to white. Then enable the “Matte” effect and change the effect to “Blur”.
- Last step for this is to add some text, above the “Matte” effect is the “Captions & Text” effect, we want to click and drag this effect, so that it is positioned below the “Vignette” effect. Once you’ve moved it, you can simply start typing “Happy Fathers Day”. Choose a nice font, I’ve gone with “Chalkduster” and set the color to be a dark brown. Once you’re happy with the color and font, simply drag the the text box to the bottom of the image, and then use the resize handles to make it expand to fill the bottom of the image. As you do so, the text will auto resize to fit, neat huh?
Alrighty, now you’ve got your personalized Fathers Day card, you can either print it out using one of Fun Photos Greeting Cards templates, or mail it to him using a Fun Card.
