How to spot a Fake Gorillapod!

Friday, July 31st, 2009

gp1_cover-tree The Joby Gorillapod is one of the most innovative camera accessories I’ve come across in a while. It sounds odd to begin with as it’s a flexible tripod with rubberized legs! The design allows the tripod to be wrapped around objects, including poles! The rubber helps to secure the tripod in place. You can turn a walking stick, fence, chair, car window into a tripod! They do several different sizes, the “Original” is for compact cameras. The “SLR” is designed for Super zoom or DSLR cameras. While the “SLR Zoom” is for DSLRs with huge lenses! Lastly their, “Focus” is designed as a professional camera rig and supports video cameras. Their prices are more expensive some other tripods, but in my mind the sheer flexibility makes the tripod worth the price. To get a better understanding of what I mean, take a look at the photos below.

Dirty Metal ExampleWith the latest release of Funtastic Photos we created some new borders, we’re so proud of these designs, but found that they were too big in file size to include in the Funtastic Photos bundle. So we’ve posted them here for all to download.

Simply download the files, let them decompress and then double click them and Funtastic Photos’ll automatically place into the correct place.

The dog used is a 10 year old flatcoat retriever called “Hiza”. She loves chasing rabbits, even though she’s incapable of catching them. She wasn’t harmed in the making of these pictures.

Funtastic Photos Get Updated to 1.0.6

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

With the latest version of Funtastic Photos, we’ve added 10 more 1-Click Styles, 6 more borders and 1 more print layout. The new 1-Click Styles add more creative options ways for people to quickly and easily enhance their photos. The new borders help to make photos more attractive with attention grabbing borders. While the new layout is a nice vertical layout, for wide photos. We’ve improved the reliability of some areas with Mac OS X 10.4 installations. A bunch of smaller bugs have been fixed, improving the stability and experience of the product. For those exporting images, holding down the shift key while copying an image will result in a high resolution version being copied.

Europe: Why is everything so expensive?

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

Europe, home to millions. Idolized by millions more, but why is it so expensive? It’s not just that taxes are higher in Europe, companies charge Europeans more than the rest of world. Why, because they can!

Preface: I was born in, and grew up in England. Right from when I understood exchange rates and other countries, I became frustrated with the cost of items in England. For the last 4 years, I’ve been living outside of England and I’m used to paying the same prices as the rest of the world.

New App: Permissions Reset

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

Permissions Reset Icon This simple FREE application was developed to solve one of the most annoying problems with Mac OS X computers, Permissions problems.

What’s a Permissions Problem?
Permissions Problems range from not being to save your own work into your Documents folder, not being able to update files that others have sent you – all the way to applications not working correctly or even crashing! Permissions are a security mechanism that can control how you and others interact with files. Sometimes these permissions get incorrectly set, or messed up and then the pain begins.
