Tiz the season for Greeting Cards Tips
Funtastic Photos can be used to print some really beautiful greeting cards right from your home computer and printer, to help with this seasons card frenzy we’ve posted some tips that have helped us get the best results and save resources.
Tip Number 1) Get your settings right! While Funtastic Photos does the best it can, there are things that it has no control over and it does require human intervention. The Print Dialog, in here changing a few settings can make the difference between a wasted sheet of paper (and the ink) or a beautiful piece of art worth framing. When you click the ‘Print’ Button in Funtastic Photos most likely you’ll be presented with the following dialog.

The Standard Print Dialog
This dialog is simple, far too simple and its a crime. However we can easily get to the options by clicking the Disclosure button. The disclosure button is the button in the top right hand corner that has an arrow pointing down, when you click on it the dialog will expand and reveal the options that we need.

Expanded Print Dialog
Tada… More options and more control, now we want to change the quality and make sure we’re getting the best we can, otherwise we may as well put the cash straight into the garbage. Click on the popup menu that reads “Layout” and change it to “Quality & Media”. The dialog will change again and this time will reveal what we’re after.

The Quality & Media Settings
The most important options are the “Media Type:” and the “Print Mode:”. In the media type, change it to match the kind of paper you’re using. For instance I was using Matte Photo Paper, so I set it to be Matte Photo Paper. Next, set the print mode to “Printing a top-quality photo”. Now click “Print” and gasp in awe at the quality of your printouts
Tip Number 2) Two For The Price Of One! Use some heavier paper or thin card. Print a Double Fold Card, collect the print out from the printer and feed it in to the printer the other way around (for most printers simply turn the page 180˙), then print again and now you have two smaller card on one piece of card. Carefully cut down the middle, either horizontal or vertical depending on the orientation, and there you have it two cards. It saves paper, ink, trees and money!
If we think of more, we’ll post them, otherwise have fun making your own beautiful custom greeting cards
